The Boeing 247 was the first modern passenger airliner. Although it was eclipsed by the Douglas DC-3 in numbers made, it was the force that drove the creation of the DC-2 and subsequently the DC-3.

I had the good fortune to photograph this aircraft a couple of years ago in it's hanger at the Seattle Museum of Flight's restoration center at Paine Field in Everett, WA. It was really great to see it out in the sunshine (and in the air!).
